Went for a romantic dinner... The phone interaction leading up to the dinner did not feel particularly... special. Parking is a bit... tedious. It seems to be valet only, but the lot is so small that the valet was forced to shuffle a number of cars before returning my vehicle, which amounted to something like a 10 minute wait (fortunately the weather was nice as there was very little room to wait inside). The restaurant itself feels very crowded and noisy. It was hard to hear the waiter, and also difficult to have a nice conversation with my wife. As this was a well-ranked romantic NJ restaurant I was expecting something more... well... romantic in nature. The food was very good. The shrimp appetizer was delicious. The sorbet was yummy. And the chocolate cherry cake was amazing. It's a decent restaurant, with more than decent food, but nothing special.

Scalini Fedeli in Chatham is a true gem! Stepping into the restaurant feels like a journey to an old-school fine dining Italian spot. The phenomenal food and service make it an exceptional experience. Highlights for us were the raviolo and Butternut agnolotti for appetizers, and the duck and Veal Scallopini for entrees. The Banana tart for dessert was nothing short of phenomenal. Plus, the free valet parking (don't forget to tip the valet), extensive bar/wine menu, and a $30 corkage fee for bringing your own bottle make it a top-notch dining choice. Highly recommend.

I’ve been hearing good things about Scalini Fedeli for a few years now, so when my wife and I finally got a babysitter for a night we decided to try it for the first time. The first impression we got was just how incredibly charming the restaurant is. Kinda like upscale farmhouse chic. We were early for our reservation so the hostess politely informed us our table wasn’t quite ready and offered us a glass of Prosecco. When we were seated in the dining room we were immediately impressed by the curved vaulted ceilings and large columns that sort of broke the room up into smaller sections. Overall very cozy and comfortable feel. The service was very prompt and very accommodating. We got the feeling that everyone truly wanted us to enjoy our experience. The food was excellent but perhaps had a couple imperfections: for example my pappardelle with ossobucco and marrow jus was utterly dominated by an overwhelming flavor of rosemary. And my duck breast was good, but I’m not quite sure I would order it again. The star of our show was my wife’s linguini carbonara. Simple, classic (American style: with cream instead of egg yolk) but silky, savory and exactly what you want when you order carbonara. We added a course that I loved as well: butternut squash agnolotti in brown butter and sage. Decadent. And the “primi piccolo” (kind of like an amuse bouche) was excellent as well. Overall Scalini Fedeli comes in at 4.75 stars due to some nit-picking on my part (at a restaurant of this caliber the server should crumb the table in between courses) but we had an excellent experience and a fantastic date night.

One of the best meals NJ has to offer. I have been to the Tribeca location a handful of times and this location is just as good. It is also about $60 cheaper for the prefix so if you are trying to fine dine on a budget you can't beat the $100 price. Smoked tuna, shrimp, pasta, salad, sorbet, porkchop, cheesecake for $100. All the food was perfect, as you can see from my photos. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful. I would highly recommend it.

Great Sat night dinner destination. Dress up desired, great date night place. We do family events there. Pricey but BYOB makes it better! Try the lobster linguini dish, fabulous! TRUFFLE RAVIOLI AS an appetizer! Staff is quiet and professional. Make reservations a week ahead. Flaw is its crammed table to table but the ambiance is nice.

Why go to what is declared the best restaurant in NJ, the food of course and it was disappointing; maybe there was too much hype. The service was exceptional as was the chairs and surroundings; but most important is the food. For the amount the pricing was on the high side. We were a party of 8 and almost alone in the restaurant..
